Well that’s it for another 4 years when we resume battle in Brazil.
I’m glad Spain won last night as it would have been a disgrace if that Dutch team of thugs had won. They did the same hatchet job on Brazil in an earlier game and got away with it.
As for the moaning from the Dutch about Howard Webb. Their having a laugh aren’t they? The ref did his utmost to keep everyone on the pitch in the vain hope it would make for a good game. In stead of complaining they need to thank their lucky stars that they weren’t down to 8 men by half time, which they would have been if this hadn’t been the final.
I thought South Africa did a fine job of hosting the tournament but maybe a little more attention should have been put into the state of the pitches. One of them, Port Elizabeth, made Wembley’s look good. It was all sand.
Looking back and comparing this tournament to others it was as dull as ditch water for the majority of the time.

I couldn’t believe that Dutch high kick didn’t result in a send off. They were lucky Webb didn’t see it, I hope there is some come back afterwards. I wholeheartedly agree that the Dutch did not deserve to win and nor should they be upset their dirty tactics resulted in yellow cards!

I think the reason De Jong stayed on the pitch was that all three of them were in a straight line with Alonso’s back facing the ref. I know Jong plays for my beloved City but that tackle was just bang out of order. I’ll go as afar to say it was GBH.
No excuse for that dirty git Van Bommel though, he should have got a red on several occasions in different matches.
I can just about remember the 66 world cup but I can clearly remember everyone since and this one was poor for many reasons.
