The BBC are axing 2 of their “red button” streams on Freeview. From 27th October channel 302 and the News multi screen will go off air. The change in service is to facilitate the Beeb HD roll out.
Personal I’m not too impressed by this. In recent years the coverage of events such as Glastonbury, major sporting events and the recent return of F1 to the BBC, by way of example, have been fantastically enhanced by the “red button” service.
Is this a step in the wrong direction? It is if one compares this reduction in service to the utter garbage that gets pumped out on other Freeview channels. ITV2/2+1 anyone?
