I’ve been trawling through my MPs expenses claims that have been recently published. One thing that has caught my eye despite the blacking out of details is the following.
At the bottom of each claims form is a declaration that has to be signed and dated.
“Authorisation and declaration.
I confirm that the payments requested are in respect of costs incurred wholly, exclusively and necessarily in the performance of my Parliamentary duties.”
So why haven’t all those who are paying money back been locked up for fraud and or falsifying records?
