I see the Sex Pistols one off gig ‘darn in lahndon’ has been expanded to four nights including one at the M.E.N. Arena up here in Manchester.
Some may say this is a good thing especially as the little rascals haven’t played here since December ’76. Imagine the look on my face when I discovered the ticket price.
- £37.50!
Nice to see that the spirit of ’76 is alive and well, NOT. Wasn’t it John that said “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” I do after finding out the price.
The way I look at this is that this is nothing more than a cabaret show of a band playing a 30 year old back catalog that consists of one album.
If i went I fear that it would destroy some very happy memories.
I’m getting my ear bent by a friend of mine who wants me to go to this gig. I keep muttering things like “F**k off” but he’s not having any. I will not be going, it’s as simple as that.
Why?
Firstly. This is now a band that has become exactly what the were against.. Fat and over fifty springs to mind.
Secondly. Only the senseless would pay £37.50 to see this lot.
30 years ago it mattered but it doesn’t anymore. You can keep all these unscrupulous money making ideas, reunion gigs and record re-issues. It’s all about making some f**ker a pile of money.
I’ve typed this while listening to the ‘Screen on the Green’ gig from 1976, As I said, 30 odd years ago it mattered.
